摘要

Despite advances in supportive care for children treated for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), infection remains an important cause of morbidity and mortality. Patients undergoing therapy for AML are at particularly high risk of invasive fungal infections (IFI) given their underlying immunosuppression and prolonged periods of neutropenia. A recent report of infection of children treated for AML on the Phase 3 Children's Cancer Group study CCG 2961 reported that 14 to 21% of children experienced at least one fungal infection during each phase of therapy and that Candida and Aspergillus species were the most prevalent fungi identified in all sites . However, other fungal infections were also seen in this study.
