In field trials in 1984-86 at Karnal, Karnataka, berseem [Trifolium alexandrinum] cv. Mescavi was given the last cut for fodder on 5 or 20 March or 5 or 20 April and sprayed with water, NAA (as 4.5% w/w Planofix at 1.25 litres/ha), Paras (Photosynthat 0.625 litres/ha) or 600 litres/ha of a 3% solution of P2O5, 15 days later. Green fodder yield increased with delay in last cutting date until 5 April, whereas seed yield was highest when the last cutting date was 20 March. Spraying with P2O5 increased seed yield in 1986 compared with water spray.
