The recovery in the developed world is stalling. After a reasonable, but certainly not spectacular rebound in the eighteen months following the Financial Crisis, momentum has ground to a halt. In the second quarter of 2011, US GDP eked out just 0.2% growth. Growth in Europe was no better. In the second quarter, Germany recorded GDP growth of 0.1%, UK 0.2%, France 0.0%, Spain 0.2% and Italy 0.3%. The Singaporean economy contracted 1.7%.
