Ninety-six samples of bovine faeces sent to the Laboratory of development and analyses of Cotes-d'Armor between 15 July and 15 September 2010 were analysed using two different PCR extraction techniques, and which were compared twice to verify that the results were reproducible. The two protocols, which differ in particular in the volume of the test sample, are available from the same company. Seventeen addition animals found to be excretors were detected because of the larger test sample (6 g versus 1 g). The risk of diagnosis using two different tests is highlighted.
