Study of phonography cartridges for determining the viscoelastic properties of materials by a wave propagation method

Numerous publications have shown the advantage of wave propagation methods for measuring viscoelastic properties of materials. In general and at present, these methods still require experimental experience and are therefore relegated as "laboratory methods". In practice, this experience is required in adapting the type of transducer and the signal processing method to the material under test in accordance with its damping properties. In the present study, we show how photography cartridges enable the scope of application of the "separate pulse method", the simplest method to implement, to be extended to a wide range of materials. We also show that the reliability, ease of usage of this type of sensor make it possible for the use of such an experimental test bench in an "industrial" context, this meaning for design departments as well as for testing laboratories.
