Detecting microbial slime

Following the introduction of double-hulled crude oil tankers in response to environmental concerns about spillages,shipping companies were mystified to discover that their cargoes of crude oil were becoming corrosive whilst on board.Experts from Cardiff-based ECHA Microbiology,Graham and Ted Hill,investigated this phenomenon and foundan unexpected cause of the problem.
