It's one thing to plant a pin oak and a red oak purchased from a Rotorua forestry nursery and nurture them through years of raising children (and a vineyard too). But it's quite another to design an entire house around the massive arc of greenery thetrees have created over the intervening thirty-seven years. That's what Ross and Adrienne Spence did when they decided the Keith Hay home that had seen the birth of their former winery vineyard, Matua Valley, was long past its useby date. A brand new home would be built on their fourhectare site in Kumeu, north-west of Auckland.
