Coral Mazlin-Hill designs and manufactures eyewear; she's also a devotee of the glamorous 1930s era. So it's fitting that the St Mary's Bay, Auckland home she shares with her husband, Willi Hill, is a residence where industrial chic meets out-and-outglamour. The house is a seamless and visually arresting marriage of the two key influences that inform her life. Urban industrial elements include a free-standing, semi-commercial Viking oven and a large metal storage trolley on castors in the kitchen, as well as walls covered with Porter's milk paint for a matt plaster effect. Stainless steel shelves and a fire surround teamed with a black granite ledge give the sitting room some hard edges. "Both Willi and I love an industrial, chunky feel," says Coral.
