We appreciate the effort made by Mehta and Frutkin to review our article about comparing three ways of obtaining closure of the femoral artery after cardiac catheterization . According to the authors, incidence of hematoma in our study is higher than in the ACUITY study . However, our population consisted of elective patients admitted to the short-stay department, whereas in the ACUITY study patients with acute coronary syndromes were analyzed. Our patients were mobilized at a shorter time interval after cardiac catheterization, possibly resulting in a higher incidence of hematoma. Also concomitant antiplatelet medication differs between the two studies. We would like to stress that in none of our patients, the development of hematoma led to prolonged hospital admission period or surgical intervention.
