The nursing workforce in England has been bolstered with the creation of more than ￡3 million worth of senior level posts.The NHS Commissioning Board is recruiting a director of nursing who will be responsible for improving the quality of care and supporting the board's chief nursing officer, Jane Cummings.A further 27 nurse director posts are being created across England to head up the board's local area teams. Adverts for all posts state that preference will be given to nurses at risk of redundancy. All will be given salaries of more than ￡100,000.
