Point form relativistic quantum mechanics is employed to calculate the electromagnetic transition amplitudes of low-lying nucleon resonances. The results obtained are compared with the nonrelativistic approach and other model calculations. Differences among them are discussed. (C) 2004 Published by Elsevier B.V.
