The extended random phase approximation (ERPA) theory is treated within a framework of a projection method, The method is used to calculate the main contributions to the nuclear response in electron-scattering reactions, Analytical expressions in nuclear matter for the longitudinal and transverse response in quasi-elastic (e,e') reactions are shown, Numerical results for these contributions for Ca-48 at momentum transfer q = 410 MeV/c were performed.
