摘要

Speaking out about the move into higher education Rolfe (2012) recently cited a number of disadvantages for nurse educators, notably the physical and psychological separation of nurse educators from the hospital/practice environment and thus from their core aim and values, developing high quality nursing practice. Many, but not all, university staff involved in the education of nurses started their careers as practicing nurses. Nursing while notoriously a stressful and demanding career, at the same time it occupies an extremely privileged position in society, being able to be with and care for human in all stages of their development, with the concurrent satisfaction of having made a difference. The nursing milieu is usually also one of ongoing interpersonal interaction with both staff and clients which can afford both satisfaction and stimulation.
