Weeds, plants which interfere with people's activities, can be killed in many ways. Recently, we have tended to use herbicides (weedkillers) for weed control. But many of us still use hoes in the garden, and farmers still use a mower, or a grubber, ora mob of goats, for killing some weeds. No matter what the weed, it's usually best to kill it before it competes with the crop, or takes up too much pasture space, or poisons an animal. In many cases, it's also better to kill it before it can set seed - that 'one year's seeding means seven years' weeding' is true. In any case, weeds are often much easier to kill when they are small.
