Floor vibrations - multiplying factors for offiee floors

In SCI P354, Design of Floors for Vibration: A New Approach, Table 5.3 presents recommended limiting multiplying factors based on continuous single person excitation. The most significant of these factors is that for offices, for which a value of 8 is given. The value is greater than that in Table 5.2, which is reproduced from BS 6472 and corresponds to continuous vibration from any source. The value of 8 was given in SCI P076, published in 1989, and in P354 it was noted by the authors that no adverse comments had been received from occupants on floors designed to that value. For determining the acceptability of intermittent response, BS 6472 and ISO 10137 give guidance on the use of vibration dose values (VDVs).
