Recent studies have seen the accumulation of data supporting the involvement of tumor necrosis factor in the mechanisms of development of convulsive activity in the brain. Experiments using various moedls of epileptogenesis have shown that convulsive activity induces TNF-a expression in brain structures such as the neocortex, hippocampus, and cerebellum[7,9,11].
