A field trial was carried out to study the response of graded levels and split doses of nitrogen application, during critical stages of crop growth, in multiplication of gladiolus cv. 'Pink Friendship' corms through cormels. Higher level of nitrogen at 300 kg/ha, produced significantly higher number of large sized corms (dia. 3.81 or above) per plot, total number of corms per plot and average diameter and weight of individual corm when compared with lower levels of nitrogen (100 and 200 kg/ha). Number of medium sized corms (2.50 to 3.80 cm dia) and number of cormels and also their weight per plot were not significantly affected by graded levels of nitrogen application. The split application of nitrogen in three (upto 90 days after planting) or four(upto 120 days after planting) equal doses and also the interaction of graded levels and split application of nitrogen doses were found to be non significant with respect to all the yield parameters of corms and cormels.
