A study was carried out to reduce the injuries and difficulties of tribal women engaged in markingnut processing by developing tools and equipment in the 'Dept. Agril Process Engineering, College of Agril. Engg. & Technology, Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani during 2000-05. Five markingnut dehullers were compared with traditional method and M.A.U. dehuller was found 75% efficient with 6.5kg/day dehulling capacity against 45% efficiency and 5kg/day capacity by traditional method. It was easy to operate. No splashing of BSL (Bhilavan Shell Liquid) droplets on the body parts observed against 45cm long splashing in traditional method. Kernel breakage was 25% against 60% by traditional method. The flat round shaped nuts can be dehulled with higher efficiency than oblong shaped.
