Japan May Restart Nuclear Units in Fall

Some of Japan's idling nuclear reactors may resume operations this fall, according to Economy and Industry Minister Toshimitsu Motegi. Motegi told reporters that the new safety requirements will take effect "in the summer," so the schedule for the resumption of reactors will be "fall at the earliest." Only two of Japan's 50 operable nuclear reactors are running, but they are due to shut down for routine maintenance in September.
