The Texas energy industry, heavily weighted in favor of natural gas, got more bad news last week. For the first time in 13 years, the value of natural gas produced in the Lone Star State fell below that of Texas-produced crude oil. That was the latest in a string of bad news that has hit one of the state's economic engines over the past few weeks. The finding was part of the recently released mid-year Texas Petro Index by the Foundation for Energy Education, an affiliate of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers (NGW Jul.27,p1).
