Meeting in El Dorado last week, the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission voted to shut, down a natural gas drilling disposal well and ban others in a 1,150-square-mile ring around the communities of Greenbrier and Guy. The commission voted to close a well run by Deep-Six Water Disposal Services between Greenbrier and Eno-la — which along with the community of Guy have been at the center of a series of earthquake swarms. After the vote, Edmond, Oklahoma-based Deep-Six said there is still no proof linking its well to the earthquakes and that Arkansas is a soismically active region. BMP Billiton. which also operates disposal wells in the area, has volunteered to shut, down two wells.
