Panel: US Continues Gas Hydrate Research, India Revs Up Drilling

A panel discussion on gas hydrates at Offshore Technology Conference 2016 in Houston last week was centered on US and Indian efforts to develop this resource, but the talks were overshadowed by events off the coast of Japan. Tim Collett with the US Geological Survey told the luncheon audience that the US is moving ahead with its research projects "to just understand what exactly this resource is." The US, he said, is joining Japan, China, Malaysia, South Korea, Canada and India in a race to develop "the ice that burns."
