Study: Jackup Rig Use Rates Hit Five-Year Low; Bottom in 2010

The global jackup fleet is at its lowest utilization rate in five years, and a new report by Macquarie Research Equities (USA) suggests that by 2010, the percentage could drop to levels not seen since March 2002. For the first time since July 2004, global jackup rig use has dropped below 90%. The utilization rate in January was 88%, with the Macquarie report calling for that percentage to fall throughout the year.
