GDF Suez Doubling Capacity at New York Gas-Fired Power Plant

GDF Suez has signed an agreement to double the production capacity of its Astoria natural gas-fired power plant in Queens. The Astoria Energy II power plant will have a generating capacity of 575 MW and when joined with the existing Astoria I power plant, the $1 billion expansion will bring total generating capacity to 1,150 MW.
