The Canada-Nova Scotia Petroleum Board issued a new call for exploration bids on six blocks covering 2.9 million acres in what will be Nova Scotia's latest effort to find oil, the Canadian offshore regulatory agency said last week. Companies have been searching for black gold in the icy waters off Nova Scotia for about three decades, but with only one exception, their drill bits have yielded only natural gas. Just one small oil find, the Cohasset-Panuke field, has been made, and it played out in only seven years. En-cana's Deep Panuke field and the Sable Offshore Energy Project provide gas to Atlantic Canada and New England, but both are in decline.
