E&Ps Noble, Cabot Navigate Slump By Cutting Spending and Idling Rigs

While many of their peers are struggling to stay afloat, large independent gas producers Noble Energy and Cabot Oil & Gas appear to be navigating the current price slump with relatively minor distress. For Noble, targeted cost-cutting and increased drilling efficiency enabled continued growth in production in the fourth quarter while operating within its cash flow, company officials said last week. And that growth is expected to continue this year even as capital spending is slashed.
