Malaysia's Petronas and its wholly owned subsidiary Progress Energy said state-run Chinese firm Sinopec has agreed to take a 15% stake in the Pacific NorthWest LNG export facility on Canada's west coast. The firms did not disclose financial details. In the deal, Sinopec also agreed to acquire a 15% interest in shale gas assets in northeast British Columbia that will supply the LNG plant and receive 15% of the plant's output —1.8 million tons of LNG per year — for at least 20 years (NGW Mar.17'14).
