Exxon Mobil Plans to Deploy Huge FLNG Vessel for W. Australia Project

Exxon Mobil is the latest firm to jump on the floating LNG bandwagon by planning to develop the world's largest FLNG plant from its offshore Scarborough field in Western Australia, potentially trumping Royal Dutch Shell's rival Prelude project announced in 2011. In filing last week, Exxon said it plans to produce 6 million to 7 million tons per year of LNG with five trains from Scarborough, with startup slated for 2020-21. This is much larger than the 3.6 million tons/yr Prelude project.
