On Aug. 23, Mexico's government launched an auction for onshore acreage seen as rich in natural gas. Yet many observers are questioning whether the auction will attract much interest, given current low gas prices and investment cutbacks by international producers. Despite that discouraging panorama, Mexican officials remain confident that investors will find the acreage attractive.
