Apache Exit Sets Stage for LNG Consolidation

US independent Apache is leaving the Canadian LNG sector with much less fanfare than when it entered the Kitimat LNG project about four-and-a-half years ago as a partner of founder Galveston LNG. After four partners, no customers and a market that has changed almost seasonally, the Houston-based exploration and production company is retreating under pressure from shareholder activists to its core and original business - onshore drilling and production with the focus in North America (NGW Aug.4'14).
