摘要

The possibilities of the use of deep-hardening steels for fabricating rolls up to 2200 mm in diameter are studied for steel 35KhN3MFA as an example. The mechanical properties of the metal are studied for cooling rates ranging within 4000 – 50 K/h in short-term tests at 20 – 550℃. The method of finite elements is used to compute the temperature field and the variation of temporary and residual stresses over the cross section of a backup barrel quenched after taper and volume heating.
