China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) on May 6 launched a 9 Bcm/ yr gas-processing plant in eastern Turkmenistan, the latest in a string of ambitious projects between the two countries. The $600 million facility is part of the Bagtyarlyk production sharing agreement (PSA) based in the Lebap province that borders Uzbekistan and supplies gas for the Central Asia-China pipeline. A previous gas-processing plant with a capacity of 6.5 Bcm was opened in 2009.
