Multi-Segment Safety Light Curtain Provides Custom Fit

Scientific Technologies, Inc., Fremont, CA, introduces the MiniSafe Flexible MSF4700 family of safety light curtains. The MSF4700 is engineered to withstand high shock and vibration environments typically inhabited by punch presses and other heavy industrial machinery. Its multi-segmented design allows protection of as many as four openings by connecting-as may as four 35 by 50-mm housings in sequence. Protected heights from 150 to 1800 mm and resolutions of 14,20 and 30 mm are available, and heights and resolutions can be used in any combination. The ability to customize height and resolution for each light curtain segment allows for a custom fit to the specific machine. For example, an application requiring a 14-mm finger detection segment for the vertical plane and a second 30-mm detection segment for sensing the presence of someone standing in a hazardous area, can be fitted without having to resort to multiple machine safeguards.
