Methanol exports from Russia fall on weaker demand

According to Metal Expert Freight’s estimates, in May Russian exporters supplied slightly less than 111,000 t of methanol to foreignmarkets, 11% or 14,000 t less than in the previous month. Except for Hungary, Poland and Lithuania, that keep buying small lots of thecargo, all markets saw a decline in methanol shipments from Russia due to weak demand and falling purchasing prices. In particular,supplies to Finnish ports fell from 69,000 t in April to 65,500 t in May, to Slovakia – from 21,500 t to 16,000 t, to Turkey – by 23% to 13,600t and to Ukraine – by 52% to 2,200 t.
