Communication is to society what the nervous system is to man. Any programme of social and economic change in a country like India, which is under going a transformation from a traditional to a modern society, the role of communication can hardly be over emphasized. This is true in the field of agriculture, in which the process of transformation has to be accelerated, so that the fast changing agricultural technology could be properly and widely communicated to farmers living even in the remote regions of the country. A proper understanding of information is an important aspect of communication. If the information is not understood by the receiver in the same way the sender wants him to understand it, the purpose of communication is defeated. Here comes the importance of effective communication.
