FOUNDRY COATINGS CAN SAVE MONEY

The major function of a coating is to provide an effective refractory barrier between the sand mould or core and the molten metal stream, in order to provide the best "as cast" surface finish, free from adhered sand and metal penetration. In some situations the coating is also required to eliminate sand related casting defects, such as fining or veining and to modify the metallurgical properties of the casting. This article will show recent developments in foundry coatings and how they have reduce cost.
