The compatibility between fungal and bacterial biocontrol agents and beneficial microorganisms were studied on solid and in liquid media. The Rhizobium sp. and Bacillus megaterium, Trichoderma harzianum-TH10, T.viride-TV2>2 and T.virens-TVS2, Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas fluorescens-Pfi were found compatible in most of the combinations studied. In vitro screening of fungal and bacterial biocontrol agents by dual culture test and by production of volatile metabolites against soil borne fungal pathogens of groundnut viz., Sclerotium rolfsii, Rhizoctonia bataticola, Fusarium oxysporum, Aspergillus niger and A. flavus were carried out. All the ten biocontrol agents inhibited the growth of soil borne fungal pathogens of groundnut. Trichoderma viride-TW32, T.harzianum-TH0 and T.virens-TYS2 were found to be very effective against the fungal pathogens of groundnut. Among the bacterial biocontrol agents B. subtilis and P.fluorescens were found effective against the fungal pathogens used in the study.
