Study of Biocontrol Activity of Lactobacillus Plantarum Against Aspergillus Nigerand Colletotrichum Gloeosporioides

Lactobacillus plantarum is not only a probiotic food but also act as biocontrol agent in protection of plants against pathogens. Vegetables are good source for isolation of Lactobacillus plantarum. Sixteen Lactobacillus species were isolated*from different vegetables, of which 13 were amplified for species specific primer (rec A) and identity was confirmed by sequencing. Biocontrol activity of L. plantarum against fungal pathogens, Aspergillus niger and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides showed that L. plantarum isolate from okra and carrot showed maximum percentage of inhibition against/!, niger and C. gloeosporioides respectively.
