Identification of Stable Genotypes of Mulberry using Some Parametric Methods

Sixteen mulberry genotypes were evaluated over six seasons of two years 2011 and 2012. The parameters computed were single leaf area, 100 fresh leaf weight, moisture content and moisture retention capacity at 6,12,24 hours and leaf yield. The materialfor this study was collected from the experiment conducted under the Department of Sericulture, UAS, GKVK, Bengaluru. Three different models eberhart and Russell (1996), Perkins and Jinks (1968) and Freeman and Perkins (1971) were used to study the stabilityof yield attributing characters of mulberry, Three different stability parameters that were considered while assessing the genotypes are Mean performance of genotypes, Regression coefficient (b.) and Deviation from regression (S2d.). Over the seasons for leaf yield, the genotype Karanahalli was found to be well adapted to all environments and also specially adapted to unfavourable environment. The genotype C-763 was poorly adapted to all environments. The genotypes ME-18 and MR-2 were specially adapted to favourable environment.
