Level of Total Quality Management Followed in an Agricultural Consultancy Unit ofUAS, Bangalore

The study conducted during 2010-2011 in the Consultancy Unit of Karnataka Community Based Tank Management Project (KCBTMP) under the aegis of University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, considering 30 staff working in the organization and 50 farmers from the project area, to assess the level of total quality management (TQM) followed, revealed that the overall TQM score for the consultancy services unit was found to be 83.28 indicating higher level of TQM followed in the organization. All elevenfactors of the staff working in consultancy unit viz., age, experience, educational qualification, rural-urban background, trainings undergone, communication skills, achievement motivation, level of aspiration, task management, job satisfaction and organizational climate were significantly and positively related with the total quality management in KCBTMP. In respect of farmers clients, the factors like size of holdings, educational qualification, participation in trainings, competition orientation, economic motivation, innovative proneness, participation in educational activities and implementation of technologies were related to TQM at 1 per cent level of significance indicating positive and significant relationship between the selected independent factors and Total Quality Management.
