The study was carried out during 2009 to know the effect of PEG priming and hydro priming on aged seeds of sunflower hybrid KBSH-41 and its parental lines viz., CMS-234A and RHA 95C-1 was evaluated in the present study. Seeds of all genotypes were aged for 24 h and 48 h at 40° C and 90 per cent RH, the unaged seeds were used as control. Further, seeds were primed with PEG-6000 - 1.0 MPa at 10° C and hydro primed by soaking in water by 24 h at 20° C. The results revealed that the priming treatmentwith PEG 6000 at -1.0 MPa increased the seed quality parameters such as germination (98 %), mean seedling length (26.96 cm), mean seedling dry weight (0.178 mg), seedling vigour index (2489), speed of germination (96.2), field emergence (87 %). Among thegenotypes, the hybrid KBSH-41 showed better improvement with regard to seed quality parameter than its parents upon priming treatments. The study is concluded that the seed primed with PEG-6000 -1.0 MPa at 10° C improves the seed quality parameters inmarginal lots of sunflower. )
