AFC-8, The Eighth Asian Foundry Congress was held from 17-20th October 2003, sharing the limelight in Bangkok with the leaders meeting of the 21 APEC Member Economies and two exhibitions, the APEC Investment Mart 2003 and Machinery Mart 2003. Fortunately travel to and from the AFC-8 venue at the Miracle Grand Hotel and Convention Centre was relatively unaffected by the extra security measures caused by the APEC activities. The congress, attended by over 120 delegates from 12 countries, was organized by the Thai Foundrymen's Society (TFS) in co-operation with the National Metals and Materials Technology Centre (MTEC), King Mongkut's University of Technology, Chulalongkorn University and Suranaree University of Technology. The congress was supported through MTEC by the National Science and Technology Development Agency and was sponsored by Foseco (Thailand), Volday Siam, Thai Heng Foundry, Reed Tradex and PCS Foundry Products.
