The study was undertaken to ascertain different categories of sources water in Bangalore with respect to potability. Water samples at various sources of supply like borewell, corporation and tanker water were collected and analyzed for some of the selected parameters such as pH, EC, TDS, CI, NO_3, SO_4, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd, Cr, BOD, DO, E.coli The analysed results were compared with BIS standards. The results showed that the CI, NO_3, SO_4, Ca, Mg, Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd, Cr, DO were within the permissible limit The pH of most of the waters was less than the desirable limit. Six tankers, three BWSSB and four bore well samples EC was more than the DL. The fluoride content was exceeded in three borewell samples. About ten bore well and five tankersamples contain more Fe content. Only one tanker sample was exceeding the manganese value. Most of the tanker samples encountered with more number of E.coli colonies.
