The survival of seven antibiotic markers (Steptomycon sulphate and kanamycin) strains of seed borne Azotobacter chroococcum and strain isolated from soil (IARIA-41) were introduced in soil and soil amended with wheat roots were estimated for their survival over a period of time was studied. It was evident that seed isolates were able to survive as good as soil isolate of A. chroococcum. The pattern of survival of A. chroococcum in soil as well as amended with roots were not very much different as insterile soil alone. The survival of A. chroococcum in both cases has been gradually decreased at every 15th day of analysis and the counts were found to be very low at 60th day of analysis.
