Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and the risks of acute renal failure: Number needed to harm.

摘要

The multiple renal side-effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) are as well explained and described as their benefits in the management of musculosk-eletal inflammation and pain. Of particular interest, because of its morbidity, is the development of acute renal failure (ARP) with NSAID. The issue is how to meaningfully discuss a rational risk benefit analysis of NSAID treatment with individual patients, who are often keen to take advantage of their benefits.
