Is a combination of tramadol and acetaminophen effective for the treatment of acute migraine pain?

This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study enrolled 305 patients (mean age 39.1 years) with migraine according to the criteria of the International Headache Society. Patients were excluded if they used more than one prophylactic medication for migraine or if they overused analgesics. The participants took a single dose of either tramadol plus acetaminophen (75 mg and 650 mg, respectively; n = 154) or placebo (n = 151) within 2h of onset of moderate to severe migraine pain.
