Air conditioners are designed to provide comfort and traditionally controlled using thermostat with targeted temperature and without considering effect of relative humidity. This paper details about a model developed using Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) and tested for comfort environment based on ET* (Effective Temperature). Temperature and relative humidity of room to be air conditioned are the inputs of FLC to control the compressor ON-OFF. Consequently air conditioner maintains both temperature and relative humidity near ET* and the compressor will stay off for significant period to save energy.
