How Will the Economic Crisis Affect Natural Gas Prices?

With the nation's continuing economic downturn, the question arises: How will the crisis affect the North American gas supply-demand balance and gas prices, both in the near term and beyond? This issue is especially important because in order to sustain and grow the gas industry to continue to be able to attract the capital it needs at all levels-exploration and production, pipelines, distribution, power generation, and other new end-uses. In this article, we review the emerging gas supply-and-demand issues and then offer three basic conclusions.
