We present the synthesis and dielectric characterization of core-shell LaMn_(0.5)Co_(0.5)O_3-based composites that we have prepared with the aim of improving the dielectric properties of the pure mixed oxide, especially reducing its high dielectric losses. For this purpose we have coated the LaMn_(0.5)Co_(0.5)O_3 particles with SiO_2 nanoshells approx 20 nm thick. From the practical point of view, the composite material obtained shows at room temperature a still rather high dielectric constant (epsilon'_r approx 200 at v = 10~6 Hz) while its dielectric losses are at least one order of magnitude smaller than those of the base oxide (tan delta = 0.8 at v = 10~6 Hz).
