Integrated management of soil pests of potato in higher hills of Himachal Pradesh

Two biopesticides alongwith two synthetic pesticides alone and in combination with garlic as intercrop were evaluated against cutworm, Agrotis segetutn (Schiff) and white grub, Brahmina coriacea (Hope) in the hills of Himachal Pradesh. Phorate 10G applied in furrows at planting @ 1.5kg ai/ha proved most effective with and without garlic crop against cutworms followed by chlorpyrifos EC @ 0.5kg ai/ha against cutworm and white grubs. Bio-pesticide i.e. Bacillus thuringiensis and Beauveria bassiana found more effective in combination with garlic and synthetic pesticides both in reducing the pest damage and giving maximum marketable potato yield and net benefit/ha.
